What Works for Children's Social Care

Creative direction & design
Fiona at What Works for Children’s Social Care approached me to design a suite of high-profile reporting outputs, with the aim of opening up the WWCSC brand to a wider audience. But the centre already had tight branding in place: as the organisation’s output increased this tight branding had begun to feel restrictive and repetitive.
Using the core brand as a starting point, I worked to establish a visual style for more narrative-based imagery and clearer, more compelling data visualisation. This was achieved though playful formats, simple and intuitive data visualisation, impactful typography and engaging imagery and illustrations.
The project included the creation of a brand extension to include principles for good chart design. This defined WWCSC’s approach to data visualisation, across both designed and researcher-produced outputs.
• Accessible reporting in both print and digital formats
• Data visualisation extension to brand toolkit
• Event materials
“Working with Hannah has been a great experience. She has developed our brand identity, producing creative solutions that fit the tone and purpose of our work. Hannah’s skill and experience in visualising complex data in a simple, intuitive and beautiful way has been vital to our mission of making the children’s social care sector more evidence-based.”
